I have joined the thousands of baby boomers that are entering their retirement years. Like many of my fellow retirees, I’m faced with the “I’m retired, now what do I do?” question. I’ve discussed this with other retirees, friends, family and several financial advisors and they have all had one common and consistent response, “spend time on activities you love”. That’s great guidance, but I still have financial obligations to meet. So, I began my journey to find something that would provide meaning, purpose and spiritual vitality; keep me physically active, mentally stimulated, and socially engaged; and had the potential to supplement my income when I needed to do so.
A friend suggested I consider beekeeping. One of his relatives had started beekeeping as a hobby and eventually turned it into a profitable business. After contacting a few beekeepers and doing my own research, I found beekeeping could check most of the boxes on my “spend time on activities you love” check list. This website was created to assist others facing the same question, “I’m retired, now what do I do?”.
