Caprock Beekeepers Association

Caprock Beekeepers Association brings together new and experienced beekeepers around Lubbock and Lubbock County, Texas. Founded in 2016 as a registered West Texas nonprofit committed to the care of honeybees and proper hive management, the club is affiliated with the Texas Beekeepers Association and draws members from across the South Plains. You’ll find members at their regular meeting on the 3rd Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm, at 6602 Indiana Ave in Lubbock.

Classes, Mentoring, and Equipment

Education is the club’s backbone: it offers a Beekeeping 101 course for beginners, a 201 course for intermediate keepers, Saturday workshops, and support for members pursuing the Texas Master Beekeeper Program. A mentorship program pairs newcomers with experienced hands, and members can rent equipment such as honey extractors and mite-treatment tools rather than buying everything their first year. The club even runs its own Certified Honey verification program for members’ honey.

Caprock Beekeepers is also the public’s connection point for bees on the High Plains. The club handles bee removal referrals and organizes club removals — pointing homeowners to local beekeepers when swarms show up, typically March through June in West Texas, with terms set by the beekeeper involved. Members volunteer at the South Plains Fair and give public demonstrations for schools and organizations on request.
