Permian Basin Beekeeping Association

Permian Basin Beekeeping Association is the beekeeping community for Seminole, Gaines County, and the wider Permian Basin region of West Texas. The club gathers on the 3rd Monday of each month at 6:30pm at the Seminole Hope and Healing Center, 110 SE 3rd Street — an easy drive for keepers coming in from Seagraves, Denver City, Andrews, and the farm country along the Texas–New Mexico line.

The association’s stated purpose is to encourage and promote beekeeping through education and community, and it pursues that through monthly meetings, classes, hands-on workshops, public demonstrations, mentoring, and formal training. There’s a practical goal behind it all: supporting the area’s farmers and gardeners by building up the honey bee population across the region, one educated, well-connected beekeeper at a time.

That local education matters. Keeping bees on the semi-arid Llano Estacado is a different challenge than in wetter parts of Texas — forage windows are shorter, water is scarcer, and the wind rarely quits — so guidance from someone running hives in the same conditions beats generic instruction every time. Members trade notes on hive inspections, pest and disease control, requeening, and pulling honey, and the club is a natural contact point when swarm season moves through West Texas, roughly March through June, and residents start spotting bee clusters on fences and eaves.
