ABQbeeks is Albuquerque’s community of urban beekeepers, promoting beekeeping in New Mexico’s largest city and answering honey bee calls throughout the Albuquerque metro. Part club, part educational resource, and part swarm-response network, the organization connects residents who have bees with the local beekeepers who want them.
The swarm program is what brings most non-beekeepers to ABQbeeks. When a swarm clusters on your property — most often during the spring swarm season, roughly March through June in New Mexico — you can report it through the organization’s website, and the report is routed to member beekeepers who collect swarms alive. Rather than exterminating, a live-removal beekeeper captures the colony and relocates it to a managed apiary, protecting the bees while solving the problem on your property. Any terms for collection are worked out with the individual beekeeper who responds.

For current and would-be beekeepers, ABQbeeks holds monthly meetings from March through October at the Sawmill Lofts near Old Town, and membership is open to anyone interested in bees.
