New Mexico Beekeepers Association Summer Conference

Hosted by the New Mexico Beekeepers Association, a volunteer-run organization serving beekeepers across the state, the NMBKA Summer Conference is the association’s warm-season counterpart to its winter gathering. Recent summer conferences have been held virtually, which means a beekeeper in Las Cruces, Farmington, or a mountain community far from Albuquerque gets the same access to expert speakers as anyone else in New Mexico. The association bills its conferences as a fun-filled day of excellent speakers and great topics, with time built in for networking among members. The event is typically held in late summer; confirm the current date on the host’s site.

The summer slot gives the program a distinctly mid-season flavor. By this point in the year the spring swarm rush (roughly March through June across New Mexico and Texas) is over, honey supers are on or coming off, and attention is turning to mite monitoring, harvest decisions, and getting colonies ready for fall. A day of talks and member conversation at this stage functions as a checkpoint before the push toward winter preparation begins.

Attending the Summer Conference

The conference is open to all paid NMBKA members, and virtual access details, including Zoom information, are provided to registered members closer to the event. Membership can be renewed through the association’s online portal or in person at certain events.
