TBA Summer Clinic

The TBA Summer Clinic is a one-day statewide educational event that draws roughly 400 beekeepers from across Texas to Victoria for break-out sessions, hands-on learning, and what the host calls hive-minded fellowship. It is hosted by the Texas Beekeepers Association, the statewide organization dedicated to promoting the common interests and general welfare of beekeeping in Texas, and the clinic is deliberately built for every experience level, so a brand-new hobbyist and a seasoned sideliner can each walk away with something practical.

What to Expect at the Summer Clinic

The program packs multiple break-out tracks into a single day, alongside vendor exhibits where attendees can compare equipment and supplies in person. Recent clinics have featured nationally recognized researchers as keynote speakers, including UC San Diego professor James C. Nieh, whose work examines how pesticides, pathogens, and nutrition affect honey bee behavior and resilience. Between sessions, the clinic doubles as one of the better networking opportunities on the Texas beekeeping calendar, with time set aside to ask questions, swap stories, and connect with clubs and mentors from other parts of the state.

Victoria sits in the Texas Crossroads region between Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi, an easy drive for Gulf Coast and South Texas beekeepers; a recent edition was held at 7403 Lone Tree Road in Victoria. The clinic is held annually in early summer (confirm the current date on the host’s site), timing that lands just as the Texas swarm season, roughly March through June, winds down and management shifts toward the summer dearth.
